Catherine,

Thought I'd take this "moment" to say great blog! Perhaps the biggest problem we as humans have is that we don't stop and just live, cherish, enjoy and savor the many delectable moments this life offers in such abundance. Shame on us!

Huh. I never thought of this. We used to joke about a phenomenon known as "secretary spread," how one's butt seems to grow when one has a desk job. And when one's butt grows, one's knees and other supporting joints feel it.

Perhaps it is the crap we eat (especially at our desks) that keeps us from moving around as much as the added weight from not moving around. Kind of cyclic.

goyavier,

Thanks for the link. I wrote more from the fitness standpoint, but I see you're looking at it from the health perspective. They're intertwined with each other, of course. You can look at it as two different paths to the same conclusion.

Ironically, I started looking into functional movements - like squats - because of overuse injuries from the knees down. A friend introduced me to Crossfit and that lead to much more intense, functional workouts and much healthier eating, which led to healthier knees.
